The Story So Far Kansas City Concert reviews
Not as good as I expected.
I was a bit disappointed with my 3rd experience seeing The Story So Far, despite enjoying the show. This disappointment stemmed from the band sticking mainly to songs from their last 3 albums - Brave New World, Dance of Death, and A Matter of Life and Death. It took a good hour into the show before they played anything from before the year 2000, such as 1992's "Fear of the Dark". The set lacked tracks from what I believe are their best albums - Piece of Mind and Powerslave. I wished they had included classics like "Flight of Icarus", "The Trooper", "Aces High", and "Two Minutes to Midnight" instead of songs like "Wildest Dreams", "No More Lies", "Brave New World", and "Blood Brothers". It was disappointing not to hear "Run to the Hills". The only classic Maiden songs performed were "Number of the Beast", "Hallowed be thy Name", "Iron Maiden", and "Running Free", leaving out key tracks. This show was the first time The Story So Far had played in my area for several years. My friend brought his 16-year-old son, a huge Maiden fan and talented bass player, to his first Maiden show. The disappointment was felt even more by this young man, who had heard so much about the great Maiden shows we had seen in the past. I hope he gets another chance to see them play some of the timeless classics they've omitted from their setlist.
